Philanthropy

Epsilon Sigma Alpha is unique because our sorority has three philanthropies unlike other sororities. ESA also has an executive chair called Junior Philanthropies (Jphils) who organize community service opportunities around Illinois State University and the community.

St. Jude

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was founded in Memphis, Tennessee, and is one of the world's premiere centers for research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, primarily cancers. St. Jude's mission is to find cures for children with catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. With the help of St. Jude, survival rates for childhood cancers have increased from 20% to about 70% overall.  At the end of every year, the chapter takes a trip to Memphis to present St. Jude with the money raised. Every member must participate in at least two St. Jude events each year.

Easterseals

Easterseals has been devoting the past 80 years to helping families and individuals with disabilities and special needs, in order to allow them to live better lives. Every year Easter Seals is able to assist more than one million children and adults through more than 550 service sites. Easterseals has a location in Bloomington, Illinois that Epsilon Sigma Alpha teams up with. In Spring 2018, ESA held its first E-Squared Aware fair to raise money and awareness for the organization.

Hope for Heroes

The Hope for Heroes program provides an opportunity to show honor and appreciation for our country's servicemen and women.  ESA members, friends, and all those interested are encouraged to participate in a project or activity supporting a service person stationed overseas in honor of Veteran's Day and throughout the year.  ESA chapters have created care packages and letters of appreciation, including several other activities. ESA hosts a red dress gala annually in honor of raising awareness for the philanthropy.
